POS software for shops in Kenya
AIFFICIENTO is retail POS and stock software for Kenyan shops, from a small duka to a multi-counter supermarket. Selling works without internet, and your data stays on the shop's own PC. KRA eTIMS integration is configured on request.
30 days free No credit card Every feature included

Local from the first bill.
Sell in KSh with VAT shown on receipts and reports. Tax-inclusive and tax-exclusive pricing are both supported.
Add your KRA PIN to receipts and reports. eTIMS integration is configured on request for your registration.
M-Pesa and Airtel Money can each be a separate payment type, shown on their own line in daily reports.
Give products a Swahili name for receipts, alongside the English name. The interface is in English.
Start with one counter on Starter, then move to up to 3 counters on Growth, or unlimited counters per branch on Business.
Sales keep going when the connection drops. The queue syncs when the internet returns, so the till does not stop.
Kenyan retail is built on the duka, the small shop that sells daily needs from a counter or a window. Dukas stock flour, sugar, cooking oil, soap and airtime, and many owners run them alone. Supermarkets, mini-marts and pharmacies have grown in towns and estates. Wholesale markets such as Gikomba in Nairobi and Kongowea in Mombasa draw traders from across the region.
Most sales are cash, but M-Pesa is part of almost every day. Customers pay by phone, and many owners also run credit for regulars, often in a notebook.
Owners often raise these points:
- Stock runs out between deliveries, and nobody knows until a customer asks.
- Credit sales are written down and then lost.
- Daily cash does not match the sales.
- Tax records for eTIMS need care for every invoice.
AIFFICIENTO covers the till and the back office. Barcode billing and quick product tiles keep the queue short. Customer credit, expense tracking and daily reports show what is owed and what sold. Stock counts and reorder lists help the owner order before the shelves run empty.

Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA)
KRA eTIMS invoicing for VAT-registered businesses
Kenya's VAT rate is 16 percent. The Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA) runs eTIMS, the electronic tax invoice system. eTIMS is mandatory for businesses registered for VAT, and their invoices must go through it. Businesses that are not VAT-registered have different obligations, so check your position with KRA or a tax agent.
KRA provides its own eTIMS tools free of charge. Shops that link a POS system to eTIMS can use one of KRA's OSCU or VSCU options, or a third-party integrator, and integrators may charge a fee. Choose the route that fits your volume and setup.
AIFFICIENTO applies VAT where your products are taxable and shows your KRA PIN on receipts and reports, so your records are ready for your accountant.
eTIMS integration is available on request. Our team configures and tests it for your registration. We do not claim certification from KRA, so confirm your eTIMS setup with KRA or a tax agent before you go live.

Choosing a POS in Kenya
Kenyan shops can choose between POS apps built for small shops, cloud POS platforms, accounting tools with eTIMS add-ons, and systems sold with hardware. Some are free to start and others charge a monthly fee. Each fits a different shop, so test before you pay.
Start with a real morning. Load your product list, then run cash, M-Pesa and a credit sale to a regular customer. Try a return and a discount. Note how long each sale takes.
Then test the internet. Switch off the connection during the trial and see whether sales still save, and whether the queue syncs later.
Finally, ask in writing how the eTIMS setup works: which KRA option it uses, who configures it, what any integrator charges, and what it costs per branch and per counter.
