AI point-of-sale software for UK independent shops
AIFFICIENTO is an AI-powered POS and shop management system for independent UK retailers. It runs on a Windows PC with an Android app, keeps selling when the internet drops, and prints second-language item names such as Punjabi, Urdu and Hindi on the receipt.
30 days free No credit card Every feature included

Local from the first bill.
Sell in £ and show the tax by its name on receipts. Choose tax-inclusive or tax-exclusive pricing for your shop, with rounding set in store settings.
Add a Punjabi, Urdu, Hindi or Bengali name to each product. It prints on the receipt, so the cashier and the customer read the same item.
One Windows PC in the shop runs as the server with its own database. Counters on the shop network keep taking sales without internet, and the offline queue syncs when the link returns.
Customer accounts with credit limits, payments received, statements and balance reminders. Regulars can pay on account without a separate notebook.
Photograph a supplier bill, including a multi-page cash and carry invoice, and Geto drafts the purchase. You check every line before it is saved. Geto needs internet and an AI allowance.
On the Android app, take a photo or a short video of up to 10 seconds, and Geto fills in the name, brand, category, unit and barcode if it is visible. You review it before saving. An iOS app is planned.
Most UK independent retail is small and owner-run. Corner shops, convenience stores and newsagents sell fast, with the busiest hours before work and after school. Asian grocers, halal butchers and grocery stores serve communities that shop several times a week for fresh produce, spices and specialist items. Pharmacies sell front-shop goods such as toiletries, vitamins and baby products next to their clinical work. Clothing shops, hardware stores, mobile phone shops and cash and carry wholesalers each need their own mix of stock and pricing.
Many of these owners still run stock in a spreadsheet, keep regular customers on a notebook tab, and find out about low stock when a shelf is already empty. Often one person runs the till, the phone and the stock room at the same time. Staff who are more comfortable reading Punjabi, Urdu, Hindi or Bengali need product names they can read at the counter. A power cut or a broken router should not stop a sale.
A practical POS for these shops should:
- Bill fast with a USB barcode scanner and keyboard shortcuts
- Keep selling offline, then sync when the connection returns
- Print second-language item names on the receipt
- Track customer tabs, payments and balances
- Show expiry dates and reorder alerts in one place

VAT registration and Making Tax Digital for VAT
The UK charges VAT, and VAT-registered businesses report it to HMRC under Making Tax Digital (MTD) for VAT, which requires digital records and digital submissions. Rates differ for food and some other goods, so check with your accountant which rate applies to each product line.
AIFFICIENTO records VAT on each sale, shows the tax by name on receipts, and keeps the sales history your accountant needs. Making Tax Digital setup is configured on request, and our team helps set up your VAT rates for your registration. We do not claim HMRC approval or certification for any product. Returns are still filed by you or your accountant.
AIFFICIENTO does not claim certification or approval from HMRC or any other authority. Integrations are configured on request, for your own registration.

Choosing a POS in United Kingdom
Several well-known UK systems are worth comparing before you choose. Epos Now, Lightspeed, Square, Shopify POS and Toast each have different strengths, from large product catalogues to free card-first setups and restaurant features. As published in October 2026, many of these vendors quote monthly plans, card processing rates and hardware separately, and some quotes include a 12-month term. Compare the total monthly cost for your number of branches, not only the headline price.
Then test it yourself. How fast is a sale with your scanner? Does it still work when the router is off? Can your staff read the item names? What happens to your customer tabs at the end of the day? AIFFICIENTO is built for independent shops that want one fixed monthly price per branch, a fast counter, offline selling and second-language names. A larger multi-site retailer with complex purchasing may need a bigger platform.
