POS software for shops, supermarkets and pharmacies in Nepal
AIFFICIENTO is point-of-sale and retail management software for Nepali shops, from pasal and grocery stores in Kathmandu to supermarkets, pharmacies and hardware shops in Pokhara and Lalitpur. It bills by barcode, keeps a clear VAT record and takes eSewa, Khalti and card payments alongside cash, and selling continues without internet. Start with a 30-day free trial, no credit card needed.
30 days free No credit card Every feature included

Local from the first bill.
Prices in NPR with the Rs symbol, VAT as the tax name, and tax-inclusive or tax-exclusive pricing for each product.
Print your PAN (Permanent Account Number) and VAT registration number on bills and receipts, with the labels set for your registration.
Record eSewa, Khalti, Fonepay QR and card payments next to cash, and split one bill across methods.

Selling continues on the shop network without internet, and sales sync when the connection returns. Use a UPS on the server PC and counters for short power cuts.
The interface is in English. Products can carry a Nepali name, and it prints on the receipt.
Nepal's retail is built on small shops. Across the Kathmandu Valley and the hill towns, the pasal, a small grocery or general store, is where most households buy their daily needs. Many owners run a single counter with a few family members, and they carry customer credit on a ledger for regular households and neighbourhood buyers. Credit is part of the relationship, so keeping balances right matters.
Kathmandu has the country's largest concentration of supermarkets, malls and electronics showrooms, and its wholesale areas supply shops across the valley. Pokhara's shops are shaped by tourism and hospitality, with trade that follows the lakeside and the trekking seasons. Lalitpur's old-town lanes and the markets around Pulchowk and Jawalakhel mix local trade with modern stores.
Shops in these areas need quick barcode billing, held bills during busy hours and reports that show which lines sell by day and by hour. Pharmacies need batch and expiry tracking. Festival seasons such as Dashain and Tihar bring sharp spikes in sales, and owners want stock ready beforehand.
Digital payments are growing. eSewa, Khalti and QR payments are common, and owners want each method reported separately at the end of the day. Power cuts and connection drops still happen in some areas, so a shop that keeps billing through an outage keeps its sales.

Inland Revenue Department (IRD)
IRD VAT billing via CBMS on request
Nepal's value added tax (VAT) is administered by the Inland Revenue Department (IRD). Businesses that cross the VAT registration threshold must register, charge VAT on taxable supplies, issue bills in the required format and file returns on time. Billing rules for VAT-registered businesses are set out in IRD rules and notices. The IRD's CBMS is its electronic billing system, and some businesses must use it. Confirm the thresholds and your filing duties with the IRD or your tax adviser.
AIFFICIENTO records each sale with your PAN and VAT registration number, applies the tax settings you configure for each product, and keeps bills, returns and voids in one register. Reports help your accountant prepare VAT figures.
Integration with the IRD's CBMS and other electronic billing requirements is configured on request. Open Settings, then Store, and use the Request integration button. Our team sets up and tests the connection for your registration. We have not confirmed that CBMS integration is mandatory for every shop type, so check your obligation with the IRD before you go live.
AIFFICIENTO is not certified or approved by the IRD. Filing VAT returns remains your responsibility.

Choosing a POS in Nepal
Nepal has general billing apps, accounting software and a smaller set of retail POS systems. Pick by how your shop sells, not by the longest feature list. Before you choose, run a full day of test sales in your own shop. Try a barcode bill, a credit sale, a QR payment through eSewa or Khalti, a return and a day close. Switch off the internet and see whether the counter keeps billing. Ask each vendor, in writing, which VAT billing rules they support, whether IRD CBMS integration is included or extra, and what the setup fee is. Check the price per branch against the counters and users you need now. A trial with no card lets you test all of this before you commit.
