Made for Jordan

Local from the first bill.

Jordanian dinar with three decimals

The dinar is divided into fils, with three decimal places. A price such as 1.250 JD prints exactly as the shelf label shows it.

Sales tax and tax numbers

Set the general sales tax rate per product, choose tax-inclusive or tax-exclusive pricing, and store the tax registration number on invoices.

JoFotara e-invoicing

Invoices can be connected to the JoFotara system on request. The receipt designer supports QR codes. Our team configures and tests the connection for your registration.

CliQ, Zain Cash and transfers

Split one bill across cash, card, CliQ, Zain Cash, bank transfer and customer credit. Each method is a payment label you can name and track.

Arabic item names on receipts

Store the Arabic name of each product and print it on the receipt. The software interface is in English.

Billing without internet

Cashiers keep billing when the connection drops. Offline sales queue on the shop network and sync automatically when the internet returns.

Jordanian retail is built around neighbourhood shops and a growing number of supermarket chains. In Amman, the historic Downtown area, known locally as Balad, has traditional markets for textiles, household goods and gold. Sweifieh, Abdoun and Shmeisani host modern supermarkets, pharmacies and boutiques. In Irbid, in the north, the commercial centre is around downtown and University Street, where students and families shop every day.

Many grocers run a small khata, a ledger of regular customers who pay at the end of the month. Wholesale markets feed the small shops, so supplier invoices, purchase returns and reorder lists come up every week. Shoppers pay in cash and by card, and transfers through apps such as CliQ, the national instant payment system, are increasing.

Owners want to know which products are low before the next delivery, which customers owe money, and what each cashier sold during a shift. Power and internet interruptions still happen in some areas, so the counter needs to keep working without a live connection. A server PC on the shop network, with terminals at each counter, handles that.

Income and Sales Tax Department (ISTD)

JoFotara e-invoicing

Sales tax and JoFotara e-invoicing

Jordan applies a general sales tax, and the Income and Sales Tax Department (ISTD) runs e-invoicing through the JoFotara system. Invoices are submitted through the department's portal, and the final invoice carries a QR code. Which businesses must issue JoFotara invoices, and from when, depends on the ISTD rules that apply to you. Those rules have changed before, so confirm the current position with the ISTD or your accountant before you go live.

AIFFICIENTO records the tax on every sale and purchase, and you can export sales, purchase and expense reports to CSV for your accountant.

For JoFotara, open Settings, then Store, and use Request integration. Our team configures and tests the connection for your registration.

AIFFICIENTO is not certified or accredited by the Income and Sales Tax Department. The connection goes live only when your registration and ISTD rules allow it.

Choosing a POS in Jordan

Jordanian shops choose from a basic cash register, a spreadsheet, a general accounting package, a restaurant POS, or a retail POS with local tax support. Accounting platforms with JoFotara features, such as Qoyod, and middleware services that connect a POS to the JoFotara portal, are also common (as published, October 2026). Test each option with your own products before you commit. Check that it works without internet, that it prints Arabic product names on receipts, and that the JoFotara setup is written into your contract with a named person responsible for it. Ask who keeps the connection working after a portal change, and what that costs. Compare the total monthly cost, including hardware and support, rather than the starting price alone. You can also review our plans and prices.
