A Voice Assistant for Shop Owners: Talk to Your POS
Talk to your POS: a hands-free call with Geto, hold-to-dictate into any field, English, Urdu and Roman Urdu support, and the limits shop owners should know.
- A live voice call lets you ask Geto questions hands-free, the way you would ask a staff member.
- Hold to dictate fills any text field, which is faster for names, notes and product names.
- Geto understands English, Urdu and Roman Urdu. Test your own everyday phrases before relying on them.
- Voice starts the work, but you still confirm prepared actions on screen. Money and voids stay on the counter screen.
Your hands are full at the counter. You are bagging groceries, counting change or unpacking a carton from the delivery. Typing a question into a screen is the last thing you want to do. AIFFICIENTO's voice features let you talk to Geto hands-free, and let you dictate into any text field. This guide covers both, the languages Geto understands, and the limits you should respect.
Two ways to use your voice
There are two different features, and they suit different moments.
- Live voice call with Geto. Start a call and ask questions, the way you would ask a trusted staff member. Geto answers by voice and on the screen.
- Hold to dictate. In any text field, hold the dictate control and speak. Release, check the text, and then save.
The live call is for questions and quick checks. Dictation is for filling in words, such as a customer name, a product name or a note.
Using the live call
These are good first questions to try:
- "What sold most today?"
- "How much stock is left of the rice bags?"
- "Who owes us money above 10,000?"
- "Prepare a repeat order for the items that are running low."
The last one shows the rule that runs through the whole AI system. When Geto prepares an action, such as a new customer, a new product or a purchase draft, it waits for you to confirm it on the screen. Voice starts the work, and you finish it.
Dictating into fields
Dictation is often faster than typing for names and notes. Use it for:
- Customer names and phone numbers. Read the digits back before you save.
- Product names in English or in a second language.
- The reason for a return or a void, which the system asks you to record.
Always read the text before you save it. Speech recognition can mishear similar-sounding words, and names are the most common problem.
Languages
Geto understands English, Urdu and Roman Urdu. Many shop owners mix these in a single sentence, for example an English question with an Urdu product name. Try mixed sentences too, and see what Geto understands before you depend on it at a busy counter.
Use the phrases you actually say every day. Ask the same question three ways, one in each language you use, and check whether the answer matches. That five-minute test shows you what to expect.
Speaking clearly
- Use a quiet spot, or pause when the fan, music or a customer's voice is loud.
- Ask one question at a time. Long, tangled questions produce long, tangled answers.
- Say numbers clearly. "Four hundred fifty" and "450" both work, but speak slowly for amounts.
- Say brand names the way they are printed on the pack.
What voice cannot replace
Cash handling, card payments, returns and voids still need a person looking at the screen. Keep those on the counter screen, with the reason written down when the system asks for one. Use voice for questions, stock checks, text entry and preparing actions that you then confirm.
Permissions and privacy
Geto respects each user's permissions. A cashier who asks about profit does not get the profit figures. Answers follow the user who asked, so every person should sign in with their own user and PIN. If the owner's session is shared with staff, the staff member gets the owner's answers, and that defeats the point of roles.
What you need
Voice uses an internet connection and your AI allowance. The Growth plan includes a larger allowance for bill and product scanning and voice. Check pricing for the current limits, and plan a heavier voice day if you expect many calls. The counter itself keeps working without internet, so a dropped connection will not stop a sale.
A scenario: the owner at home
Picture the owner at home on a Sunday, with the phone on the table. Hands-free, the owner asks Geto what sold most this week, then who owes money, then whether anything is out of stock. The owner does not open the desktop. If Geto suggests a repeat order, it is prepared and waits. The owner confirms it the next morning, when the shop is open and someone can check the quantities against the shelf.
A routine that works
Voice fits into the day in three short blocks, and each block suits different questions.
- Opening. Ask for the briefing: what sold yesterday, what is out of stock, and which customers are overdue. Make a note of anything that needs a phone call.
- Midday. Check stock on the fast movers and ask Geto to prepare a repeat order for anything below the level you want. Confirm the order on screen before you send it to a supplier.
- Closing. Dictate the reason for any void or return that happened during the day, and read it back. The notes are much easier to explain later when they were written at the time.
Keep the routine short. Three questions in each block is enough to get the habit started.
Mistakes to avoid
- Asking for something you can see on screen. It is faster to read the number yourself, and the screen shows the full context.
- Dictating a number without reading it back. Speech recognition can mishear a figure. Check every amount before you save.
- Treating a prepared action as saved. Geto prepares; you confirm. Look for the confirmation step before you assume a customer or product exists.
- Sharing a login. Answers follow the person who asked. Every user should sign in with their own user and PIN.
Start small
Try three questions today, one dictation into a note field and one prepared action that you can check. After a week, you will know which questions Geto answers well for your shop and which ones need a different wording.
